EV incentives 2026

Grants, tax breaks & charger subsidies.

A country-by-country summary of what governments in the UK, Australia, France and Italy will pay you — or save you on tax — to drive electric in 2026.

Incentives change frequently and are administered locally. We summarise the headline schemes here, but always confirm eligibility and current amounts on the official government portal before you buy or install anything.

United Kingdom

Purchase grants for private cars ended in 2022, but the UK still offers strong workplace and public-charging support, cheap company-car BiK, and Ofgem-backed EV tariffs at home.

Incentives in Australia are state-based and changing fast. Most states have wound back headline rebates but kept stamp-duty and rego discounts. FBT exemption for novated leases remains the biggest single win.

    Save A$4,000–9,000 per year

Salary-packaged EVs under the LCT threshold

Applies to BEVs first held before 1 April 2025 and still in a live lease.

  • ACT zero-interest loan

    Up to A$15,000

    ACT residents

Sustainable Household Scheme — covers EV or home charger.

Home & charger

  • NSW / VIC / SA / QLD tariffs

    EV-friendly off-peak plans

    All EV owners

Look for time-of-use plans with sub-A$0.15/kWh overnight.

  • Solar + EV rebates

    State-specific

    Homeowners

Combine with rooftop solar rebates in VIC and NSW.

Tax & running costs

  • Stamp duty discount

    Varies by state (A$0–3,000)

    EV buyers

ACT 0%, VIC reduced rate, others changing — check at point of sale.

EV owners in NSW, VIC, ACT

Offset against road-user charges in some states.
