Can your EV use a Tesla Supercharger?
A plain-English country guide for non-Tesla drivers — open sites, pricing, connector requirements and how to set it up in the Tesla app.
| Country | Status | Open sites | Connector | Tesla rate | Non-Tesla rate | Membership |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Open | Most V3 sites + many V2 | CCS2 (built-in) | ~£0.43–0.55 /kWh | ~£0.55–0.72 /kWh | £10.99 /month optional — drops rate to Tesla level |
| France | Open | Nearly all sites | CCS2 (built-in) | ~€0.32–0.45 /kWh | ~€0.45–0.62 /kWh | €12.99 /month optional |
| Italy | Open | Most sites; a few autostrada hubs Tesla-only | CCS2 (built-in) | ~€0.40–0.50 /kWh | ~€0.55–0.69 /kWh | €12.99 /month optional |
| Australia | Partial | Selected V3 sites (growing) | CCS2 (built-in) | ~A$0.65–0.79 /kWh | ~A$0.79–0.91 /kWh | Not yet offered nationally |
Pricing is indicative — Tesla adjusts per-site and per-hour. Always confirm in the Tesla app before plugging in.
How to charge in 5 steps
Step 1
Install the Tesla app
Download Tesla on iOS or Android. Sign up with the email you'll use to pay.
Step 2
Add a payment method
Add a credit or debit card under Account → Payment Method. No deposit is required.
Step 3
Find an open site
In the app, tap "Charge Your Non-Tesla" and pick a site. The app filters to compatible Superchargers near you.
Step 4
Plug in and tap Start
Insert the CCS2 connector. Open the app, choose your stall number, and tap Start Charging.
Step 5
Stop & pay
Tap Stop in the app or unplug. Your card is billed automatically — no RFID, no extra subscriptions.
Which EVs are compatible?
Any non-Tesla EV with a CCS2 inlet on the driver-side rear can use a V3 or V4 Supercharger in Europe and the UK. The Magic Dock and NACS rollout in Australia is gradual — check the app per site.

Not exhaustive — if your EV has CCS2, you're almost certainly compatible.
Do I need a special cable?
No. Superchargers in Europe, the UK and most of Australia use a tethered CCS2 cable. Just back into the bay so the inlet lines up — Tesla cables are shorter than typical CCS chargers.
Is the monthly membership worth it?
If you Supercharge more than ~150 kWh/month (≈ 750 km), yes. Below that, pay-as-you-go usually wins. You can subscribe and cancel month-to-month in the app.
Why is my charging speed lower than a Tesla?
Non-Tesla EVs often share a stall pair (A/B), so peak power can drop when both stalls are in use. Picking an isolated stall and pre-conditioning your battery helps.
What about idle fees?
Yes — once a site is 50%+ occupied, Tesla charges ~£1 / €1 / A$1 per minute after charging completes. Move your car promptly.
